P&A Announces 2025 Focus Areas

(Bismarck, ND) The Protection & Advocacy Project (P&A) is the leading civil rights organization for North Dakotans with disabilities. The agency is committed to equality and inclusion for people with disabilities in all aspects of life.


Following a rigorous selection process, P&A has identified 2025 focus areas to concentrate on in the year ahead. 2025 agency priorities include 1) abuse, neglect, and exploitation, 2) community inclusion, and 3) criminal/juvenile justice. Public comment supported the selection of these priorities with respectively 82%, 77%, and 40% of those surveyed identifying these as significant issues for people with disabilities.


Within the abuse, neglect, and exploitation priority P&A will focus work on investigating incidents, monitoring, and completing reviews of representative payees. Community inclusion will cover issues related to advocating for community-based services and living, education, employment, assistive technology, and voting. Criminal/juvenile justice work will address challenges faced by people with disabilities in the involved in the justice system.


P&A provides services at no cost to eligible individuals with disabilities. These services include information and referral, self-advocacy assistance, advocacy representation, legal representation, and protective services.
