North Dakota Protection & Advocacy Project
Legislative: Legislative Working Committees
Legislative Working Committees are "the pipeline" for people with disabilities, family members, and advocates to network and receive information about disabilities-related legislation. Legislative Working Committees are not "owned" by any one group but are supported by many individuals and organizations that care about people with disabilities. The goal of Legislative Working Committees is to educate people with disabilities, family members, and advocates about the Legislative process, disability-related Legislation, and the protocol for communicating with State Senators and Representatives.
The North Dakota Legislature will convene its next regular session on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 and will meet for approximately four months. During that time, Legislative Working Committees around the State will meet weekly, usually on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. In recent Legislative sessions, there have been eight to ten such groups. As these groups begin to organize around the State for the 2009 Legislative Session, updated information will be posted on this website.
There are some Legislative Working Committees that meet, on a less frequent basis, during the Interim:
- Bismarck: meetings held at: Solheim School Library, 325 Munich Drive
for meeting dates contact panda@nd.gov - Minot: meetings held at: Independence, Inc., 300 3rd Ave., SW, Suite F
for meeting dates contact therese@independencecil.org
P&A provides detailed disability-related information via e-mail during the Legislative Session. This includes bills, hearing schedules, and fiscal information. If you would to receive this information, please contact P&A.
